Recently, the terminal building of Xiamen New Airport, the largest single-span metal roof airport in the world, was fully completed. The project adopts a 450-meter single-span aluminum-magnesium-manganese metal roofing system, with a total roofing area of 360,000 square meters, setting a new record for the largest single-span metal roof of public buildings in the world.

The project uses high-performance fluorocarbon coated aluminum-magnesium-manganese metal tiles, which have a service life of more than 50 years, and can withstand level 14 typhoons and salt spray corrosion in coastal areas. The construction team adopted BIM full-process simulation and 3D laser positioning technology, and the installation error of each metal tile is controlled within 2 mm, ensuring the waterproof and wind-resistant performance of the super-large-span roof. At the same time, the metal roof is integrated with a photovoltaic system, with an annual power generation of 18 million kWh, making it a typical green building project.

Metal roofing has become the first choice for large public buildings such as airports, stadiums and exhibition halls due to its light weight, high strength, good plasticity, and long service life. In 2026, the market size of metal roofing in China exceeded 180 billion yuan, and high-end products such as titanium-zinc panels and copper tiles are also increasingly used in high-end commercial buildings and cultural tourism projects.
