Against the backdrop of global warming and urban heat island effect, cool roof technology and low-carbon roofing materials are being promoted and applied globally. More and more countries and regions have introduced policies requiring public buildings and commercial buildings to use reflective and heat-insulating cool roof tiles, which has become a new trend in the roofing industry.
Cool roof tiles use high-reflection coatings and heat-insulating material structures, which can reflect more than 80% of sunlight, reducing the roof surface temperature by 20-30℃, and lowering the indoor temperature by 3-5℃, effectively reducing air conditioning energy consumption by 20-30%. In California, USA, all new residential buildings are required to use cool roofs; in Guangzhou, China, cool roof technology has been promoted in more than 20 million square meters of public buildings, achieving significant energy saving effects.
In addition, low-carbon and recyclable roofing materials are also becoming increasingly popular. Recyclable metal tiles can be 100% recycled at the end of their service life, with a carbon footprint 60% lower than traditional tiles; low-carbon clay tiles produced by clean energy kilns reduce carbon emissions by 45% during the production process; and asphalt shingles made of recycled materials also meet the global low-carbon development trend. Industry insiders predict that by 2028, low-carbon energy-saving roofing materials will account for more than 50% of the global market.
